This is another story of how grateful I am to Facebook and my photography for reconnecting me with old friends. Before I got serious with photography, the only talent I could offer to friends was drafting, but really – who ever needs help with drafting?! Photography, however, is something that a lot of people want and need, so I am excited that I can offer that skill to others.
I haven’t seen Glen and Paula for probably 10 years, but because of Facebook, we were able to reconnect and catch up with each other. It was so lovely to see that they were still together and devoted to each other. And now they have two beautiful children to complete their family. And lucky for me, they needed some family portraits done and wanted me to do them (thank you!). We struggled to find a date that wasn’t affected by the turning weather. We finally took a chance and ended up picking a great day. The rain held out until after our shoot, so we were able to get some shots showcasing the gorgeous changing leaves and fall colors.
It’s always nice to take photos of friends, especially those I haven’t seen in a long time. It doesn’t end up feeling like work because I get to spend the whole time catching up and hanging out with people that I have missed over the years. It was so nice getting to see Glen and Paula again and getting to meet their children for the first time!

But because it’s such an important event, most couples are reluctant to hire a photographer that hasn’t done a wedding yet, which has been a problem I have faced. I believe I’m fully capable of taking beautiful photos of a wedding but since I haven’t done one before, I’m sure it is a bit stressful for the bride and groom to trust a new photographer on top of all the other stresses of planning a wedding.
I was very excited to be asked to be a second shooter for my friend Jenn at J.Lelli Photography. Not only would it be my first time photographing a wedding, but it was at the glorious Space Needle! What a venue for my first wedding experience!!
The weather lately has been turning to the typical grey Seattle weather and the forecast predicted rain. However, it turned out to be an unusually beautiful, sunny, and magnificent day! It provided many gorgeous views of the city, the Puget Sound, and even the Olympic Mountains in the distance! The wedding went off wonderfully and as soon as it was over, the weather immediately went back to “normal” with the start of rain and a minor wind storm. It’s as if the weather gods blessed the couple just for their special event!
It was a long day and a lot of work but I had a great time and learned a lot. Because this was J.Lelli photography’s client, I did not want to post photos of the actual ceremony but wanted to share a few of the photos I captured of the venue and all the beautiful details of the wedding. Thank you Jenn for allowing me to be part of your event!
I know there are a lot of Facebook haters out there, but one of the greatest things about it is that it has been a really amazing tool to reunite with old friends. That is certainly the case with my friend Les. This makes me feel very old to say, but we were friends almost 20 years ago and lost touch with each other until he found me on Facebook. And in the course of reconnecting with him, I found out that he became engaged to a very sweet and lovely woman named Amber and he found out that I became a photographer. Before you know it, I am taking photos of them for their engagement! They both have kids of their own and brought them along, so their engagement shoot also became a family photo shoot as well! It was so sweet to see them happy and watch their boys playing together as brothers already. They will have a beautiful family and a beautiful life ahead of them.
All the best to you, Les and Amber!

But I was very happy that she still wanted me to take photos of her reception back here in town for her friends and family that were also not able to go to the wedding. Unforuntately, my invitation got lost and I didn’t know about it until the last minute! But Dara is one of the nicest people I have ever met so I wanted to do whatever I could to make it happen. I scrambled, cleared my schedule, and got my gear ready. It turned out great and there was a lot of love and happiness at the reception that night.
Zach is one lucky guy to get to marry such a beautiful woman. Best wishes to a long and wonderful life together!

She works for Humanscale and made a cold call off of a business card she had gotten. It turned out to be Brett’s. Little did they know that the simple business call would turn into a loving romance! But that is exactly what happened and now they are engaged to be married! This goes to show that you should always be nice to strangers, whether it’s over the phone or in person, because you never know how important that person might become in your life.
Brett & Megan were such a fun couple! I really enjoyed not only their company but also the beautiful surroundings of Kubota Garden. I ended up taking more pictures than I have ever taken in one sitting and actually ran out of room on my memory cards! But there were so many great shots that I couldn’t pass up! Usually men are reluctant to get their pictures taken, but Brett came prepared with lots of ideas and an open mind to try anything! I loved that! It was really nice to see how playful and affectionate they were with each other and I believe they will have a long and happy future together!
Best wishes to Brett & Megan on your upcoming wedding and life together!
